A woman who worked as a Wayne County Juvenile Detention Center staffer is set to be arraigned Monday on charges of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy at the Hamtramck facility last month.
“The allegations in this case are among the most disturbing ones that I have seen," Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said in a statement. "It is hard to wrap my brain around the fact that this occurred in the Juvenile Detention Facility, and charged defendant is allegedly responsible for this illegal behavior."
Authorities allege that on April 8 around 7:00 p.m., Svetlana Kuryanova, 33, of Farmington Hills, was working as a juvenile detention specialist and sexually assaulted the two juveniles.
She faces charges of two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. Each count carries a maximum of 15 years in prison.
Kuryanova is in custody and is expected to be arraigned on Monday in 31st District Court in Hamtramck.
